COUNTER BALANCE BEAMS

While collaborating on the construction of the new Control Tower at Dublin Airport with a glazing contractor in 2018, we identified the necessity for a Counter Balance Beam to facilitate the glazing of its upper sections. In the absence of such beams for hire in Ireland, both the contractor and ourselves explored importing one from the UK to complete the project. However, recognising the need for a bespoke solution, we took the initiative to design and manufacture our own beams in-house.

The largest of these beams boasts a maximum safe working load (SWL) of 5000kg and a maximum overhang of 3m. Since most of our beams are tailor-made, we encourage customers to reach out if they require larger dimensions or greater capacities, as we are committed to exploring all avenues to meet their specific requirements. Our beams feature remote-controlled ballast movement, dual anti-tilt devices with audible alarms, and automatic shutdown upon the second warning until the beam is safely lowered.

Our Counter Balance Beams, especially the CBB 250, have gained significant popularity among our customers, primarily for glazing and steel applications, although we’ve also deployed them for various other purposes. Presently, we have four beams of different sizes in our hire fleet and are actively working on developing a higher capacity beam. We provide comprehensive training for customers operating the beams themselves, and all our beams undergo rigorous testing and certification by an independent body.
